XtremeEDA was founded in 2002 to provide Design and Functional Verification services to the ASIC, SoC, and FPGA hardware industry. For almost two decades now, our team has distinguished itself for the quality and reliability of our work. I am proud of the reputation of the company and our engineering team across multiple segments including Processors, Wireless, Networking, Telecom, Avionics, Consumer Products, Mil-Aero and Defense.

At XtremeEDA, we strongly believe that our professional engineering obligation is to ensure that whatever work we do for our clients, supports the public interest to the best of our ability. Securing Public Safety, our mantra, is not only making sure that our work in ASICs/SoCs/FPGAs results in safe and secure devices, but that those devices also help to ensure a sustainable environment for humanity.

After all, without a necessary and sufficient habitat, no species can survive and flourish and that includes us. Claude Cloutier, PhD

Claude has held a variety of senior roles in professional services consulting since 1990 allowing him to lead and manage numerous research and development projects across product domains such as: avionics, telecommunications, networking, wireless, imaging, IC and security for both government and industry.

Claude’s passion for ethics includes how we design and deploy our many electronic systems.  This concern is shared by many professionals in the industry as the next wave of electronic and data integration is upon us.  This will require a broader conversation within the electronics community, particularly as it relates to Artificial Intelligence and he invites other professionals who share this concern to connect with him.

Claude’s passion for ethical and moral leadership, and helping others succeed, is reflected in his conscious business approach.  Claude graduated in 2007 from Royal Roads University with an MA in Leadership and Training.  He also graduated in 2017 from Fielding Graduate University, Santa Barbara, with a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems.

Debbie Weinstein

Debbie has over 30 years of broad-based experience acting on behalf of emerging growth companies, established public and private technology businesses, venture capital funds, and investment bankers. She has represented innovative, knowledge-based issuers and underwriters in numerous Canadian and U.S. public offerings including Calian Technologies, Tweed Inc., JDS Fitel Inc. (now JDS Uniphase Corporation), GSI Lumonics Inc., JetForm Corporation and MOSAID Technologies Limited (now Conversant). She also has substantial experience in venture capital and other private financing transactions. Debbie is particularly focused on mergers and acquisitions and has taken the lead role in well over 170 M&A’s, including the sale of companies to Cisco, Ericsson, Microsoft, RIM, Salesforce.com, PMC-Sierra, and Alcatel Lucent.

Dr. David Rothwell

Dr. David Rothwell is an executive manager and international consultant with over 40 years of experience developing, managing and delivering advanced technology. He has held senior management positions in private business (March Networks; TRW; DIDAK), in government (Deputy Minister, Province of Saskatchewan; Director, Government of Canada) and crown corporations (CEO, Ontario Centre for Microelectronics; Director, Canadian Microelectronics Corporation) and continues to serve on numerous corporate and government Boards of Director.

With a PhD in economics, Dr. Rothwell has applied his experience and skills in a wide variety of entrepreneurial settings ranging from technology startups to multinational corporations, covering a spectrum of industries such as data management, security, engineering consulting, manufacturing and health care. He has been an investor and Director of XtremeEDA since its inception and a colleague of the original company founders for 20 years

Jim Nash

As Vice President of Sales, Jim is responsible for strategic and tactical growth of revenue and profit for XtremeEDA. Jim also serves as President of XtremeEDA USA and is a member of the Board of Directors.

Prior to joining XtremeEDA in 2009, Jim held senior level sales positions with DAFCA and Intrinsix. Early in his career, Jim held technical positions as an ASIC Design Engineer at Fujitsu Microelectronics and as a Field Applications Engineer at IMS/Cadence.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Northeastern University.

Pauline Melenhorst

Pauline Melenhorst has held the primary financial role with XtremeEDA since its inception. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and CA with over 25 years of financial management and accounting experience across a diverse group of industry sectors including: professional services, manufacturing, high technology and not-for-profit. Pauline has extensive experience in managing the finance function of small and medium sized businesses in both domestic and international markets.

Pauline holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

Chris Raeuber

Developing ASICs, SoCs and FPGAs since 1987, Chris has worked at all levels of the design process, from architecture specification to product realization, spanning many commercial and government / classified sectors of the semiconductor industry.

With contributions to many clients as a Design Consultant, Technical Lead, and Director of Engineering — initially for our US East region and subsequently for all of the US — Chris now leads XtremeEDA’s entire engineering team.

Chris has a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the National Technological University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida.

Kamran Haqqani

Kamran is responsible for driving and executing on strategy to provide a project based solution for our customers.

With over 24 years of experience in ASIC design and verification and a result oriented mindset, Kamran is an industry recognized leader in low power and mixed signal design. He has developed and deployed advanced front to back methodologies which helped introduce over 30+ tapeouts with first pass functionally sampleable products.

Kamran has been a member and co-chair of DVCon mixed signal technical program committee and has developed and led multiple teams of design, verification and firmware experts.

Kamran received his Bachelors in EE from Carleton University and multiple certifications in project management, leadership and AI/automation from Stanford and MIT.

Farzeen Nathoo

Being part of Design and Verification for more than 15 years and supporting customers and sales for more than 5 years, Farz as a Director of Sales with XtremeEDA has the responsibility for strategic and business growth of revenue and profit for XtremeEDA.

Prior to joining and while working with XtremeEDA, Farz has worked in many technical engagements as an ASIC Design and Verification Engineer at Nortel Networks, Freescale, Cisco, AMD, Synopsys, Parker-Hannifin, and Qualcomm to name a few. Farz has also worked as a Customer Experience Manager and Sales for Metrics Design Automation for 5 years.

Farz holds a Bachelor’s degree for Applied Science in Computer Engineering from University of Ottawa.

Zahir Jaffer

As Director of Engineering, Zahir is involved with leading the engineering team as well as contributing to technical and strategic growth for the company.

Prior to joining XtremeEDA in 2012, Zahir held various positions with companies in areas of ASIC verification from member of staff, technical lead and verification manager. He’s worked in areas of the ASIC verification process from project planning, test planning, and implementing leading edge methodologies for verifying designs. Including managing and running EDA training programs in areas of synthesis and advanced verification techniques for Nortel Networks.

At XtremeEDA, Zahir has worked as a Verification consultant with many clients ranging from graphic processor development, network on a chip, communications and wireless chip sets. Eventually adding leadership roles in technical and management duties.

Zahir has degrees in Masters and Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Architecture from McMaster University.

Janet Sapida

With over 20 years in the semiconductor industry supporting ASIC design, manufacturing, and subcontracting for engineering and operations organizations, Janet is now happy to be on the “other side of the fence” in sales operations supporting customers as only a Buyer could know.

Starting her career in Finance, Janet also had roles in procurement, supply chain management, and contracts management at startups and major semiconductor companies such as Qualcomm, Rockwell Semiconductor, and Conexant Systems. She also owned her own consulting company assisting semiconductor startups to establish their operations infrastructure and implement management tools for outsourced manufacturing.

Janet holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Management and is a Certified Purchasing Manager though the University of California, San Diego.
